USA sells over 140 M phones a year. If all of those were recycled, it could generate enough electricity to power 29,500 US households for an entire year

We’re living in transformational times, where waste is being considered a big resource. Companies and individuals are moving towards a circular economy but face resistances organisationally. Wasteonomy helps companies identify and maximise the potential of this trend.

 

The current paradigm of a waste based economy

As an Indian, I've grown up knowing people from the slums and always wondered how I could help out and make a difference. These slums are breeding grounds for dumps of waste and after coming to a city like New York, I thought to myself.. can only punitive measures help make a difference? 

Here's an understanding of how different countries manage their waste, and what are the drivers and inhibitors within those countries that channel organization of the waste trade.  

 

After analyzing the landscape, I chose the direction of shifting from a bottom up to a top down approach.
