how can we keep those in relationships to stay on dating apps?
how can we include those who missed “the dating app craze?”

The usual life-cycle of a dating app user:
Swipe—Match—Date—Relationship—DELETE APP

Andrew Forman, a Harvard B-School alumni was proposing the idea for a dating app 'Huddle-Up,' where the friends can swipe on behalf of the dater. It targeted users who couldn’t use dating apps for their personal usage but thoroughly enjoyed ‘swiping’ on behalf of them.

We worked with him to:
- Prioritize the features
- Define the visual language
- Organize the application flow
- Understand customer journeys
- Propose different versions for the app

Interview responses & synthesis

“Sometimes I let my friends swipe for me.”

“I tried 5,000 different things.  I don’t know what to put on my profile.”

“I would be more interested in swiping for someone else and helping them out.”

Feature prioritisation

After collecting interview responses and synthesizing the information, we went ahead and conducted the MoSCoW exercise which essentially categorises the features under Must have, Should have, Could have, Won't have

Rebranding

Artboard.png
Shifting to a more unified brand language

Original thought
Name: Huddle-up
Profiles: Dater (person who swipes for himself/herself), Squad (set of friends who swipe on bel=half of dater)

Huddle-Up is very associated with sports
There are already 3 sports apps on the android store called huddle-up
There is a little disconnect between the terms ‘dater’ and ‘squad’

Usually the success of a dating app is measured by how many women are drawn to get their profiled on the application, so it is essential to target the brand to women more than men.

Proposed direction
Name: Propel
Dater: Pilot
Friends: Crew

Roadmapping the future versions

New Strategies

A match made in heaven

If its a 100% match that is all the crew members and pilots on each side swipe for the same combination then it is the highest success rate on the application. We built this out to provide a range of clicks that would help the customer experience and emphasize on the 'delight' quotient

Crew chat

Crew chat: within the app chat facility for crew members. It can be scaled in having multiple crews and multiple pilots

Crew Quotes
Social media APIs

Social media APIs for the dater profile in order to get a better sense of someone's personality. Because they are APIs, there's minimum effort needed in actually inputing the information and maximum reward achieved.
